What is a D-Group?
D-Groups are gender-specific groups of 3 to 5 believers that meet weekly to study God’s Word, memorize Scripture, pray together, and hold each other accountable. These groups have multiplication of disciples as their primary goal. Therefore, a D-Group member will likely begin a new D-Group within (3 to 12 months).
Where do D-Groups meet?
The great thing about D-Groups is the flexibility they provide. D-Groups can meet wherever is convenient for the group. They can in homes, at Starbucks, for breakfast, or even at the church (childcare available on Wednesday night).
What is the curriculum?
Each D-Group will use the Bible as their curriculum. While Bible study curriculum has its place, God promises to change lives using His Word. D-Group members will learn to study and apply Scripture together. The E100 Bible reading plan is available here for each week of study. In addition, there are Bible verses to memorize. They can be found at fighterverses.com or the group can choose their own. After some time together and understanding the dynamics of the group, D-Groups may read through specific books of the Bible together or add outside reading on biblical topics.
What does a typical D-Group meeting look like?
Meetings typically last 1 to 1 ½ hours
Prayer and update of the week (5-10 minutes)
Scripture memory – 2 verses a week; depends on the group
Accountability questions (samples here)
Review journal entries (click here for sample HEAR journal)
Discuss action steps based on reading for the week
How do I sign up for a D-Group, either as a member or leader?
Sign-ups for D-Groups are online by using the button above, or contact Pastor Mark Dolan if you have additional questions.
For those interested in leading a D-Group, seek a commitment from 3-4 people (multi-generational, if possible), and use the information and resources found above to start a group. Once you have set a day and time, use the form to enroll your D-Group in ABConnect through the Register D-Group Button.
