Middle School Boys
Mike serves as a Middle School Boys Small Group Leader and has a heart for helping students understand that God is always with them, that their choices matter, and that each person has a God-given purpose worth seeking after. He encourages students to look to the Lord as they make decisions and to keep God at the center of their lives as they grow.
Mike has been working with youth at Acton Baptist for the past three years and loves reminding students how important they are—to their families, the church, and to God. He’s especially passionate about helping them see how embracing God early can make the transition into college, careers, and adulthood more meaningful and fulfilling.
Mike is married to his wife, Joy, and together they have five children—Katie, Travis, Trey, Pat, and Chris. Three are married, all but one hold double degrees, and their family now includes seven grandchildren, with another on the way. Getting everyone together is always a big deal, usually happening once or twice a year, with lake days and Christmas being extra special.
Outside of church, Mike loves lake life—boating, swimming, kayaking, fishing, and beach activities. His brother lives next door, so spring through fall often includes BBQs and floating on the lake. One of his ongoing goals is to travel the Brazos River all the way to Possum Kingdom…they just haven’t made it there yet.
What Mike loves about Acton Baptist is seeing the youth ministry grow closer—watching students reach out, connect with new faces, and truly care for one another. His hope is that students will lean on their parents, church leaders, and other godly influences when making life decisions, choosing wisdom before learning the hard way.
