"Against hope, Abraham believed in hope, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what had been spoken: 'So will your descendants be.'" -Romans 4:18

Abraham had every reason to doubt God’s promise. He was old. Sarah was unable to have children. The circumstances seemed impossible. Yet Abraham chose to believe that God had the power to do exactly what He had promised.



That’s what faith looks like. Faith doesn’t mean pretending that our problems aren’t real. Abraham faced the facts—but he trusted God more than he trusted the circumstances. His faith was not based on what he could see; it was based on who God is.

We face impossible situations too. Sometimes we wonder how God could bring healing, restore a relationship, provide what we need, or make something new out of what seems completely broken. We may not know how God will work, but we can know that He is faithful.

And the greatest promise God has given us has already been fulfilled in Jesus. He died for our sins and was raised from the dead so that we could be made right with God. If God can bring life from death, we can trust Him with whatever we are facing today.

• What situation in your life feels impossible right now?
• Are you trusting what you can see, or trusting what God has promised?
• What would it look like to give that situation completely to God?

Pray:
God, help me have faith like Abraham. When my circumstances seem impossible, remind me that You are greater than what I can see. Help me trust Your promises even when I don’t understand how You will work. Thank You for proving Your faithfulness through Jesus. Strengthen my faith and help me give You glory as I trust You. Amen.
