Devotional Thoughts
More Than a Belief

“But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”- Romans 5:8

It’s one thing to know about someone and another thing to actually know them. You can know facts about a person without ever having a relationship with them. The same can be true of our faith. We can know Bible stories, attend church, and understand Christian beliefs without actually walking with God.

Romans 5 reminds us that Jesus didn’t just come to give us something to believe. He came to restore our relationship with God. Our sin separated us from Him, but God demonstrated His love by sending Jesus to die for us—even when we were still sinners. Through Jesus, we can have peace with God, experience His love, and live with the hope of knowing Him forever.

God isn’t inviting you into a religion that stays in your head. He’s inviting you into a relationship that shapes your heart and your everyday life. You don’t have to earn His love. Because of Jesus, you can know Him, trust Him, and walk with Him today.

Reflect:

  • Do you know about God, or are you growing in your relationship with Him?
  • What is one thing that makes it difficult for you to spend time with God?
  • How does knowing Jesus died for you change the way you see God’s love?

Pray: God, thank You for loving me even when I was far from You. Thank You for sending Jesus to make a way for me to have a relationship with You. Help me move beyond just knowing facts about You and learn to truly know You. Teach me to trust You, walk with You, and experience Your love every day. Amen.
