We’re pretty good at seeing what’s wrong with other people. We notice their attitudes, their choices, their mistakes, and their sins. But Romans 2 turns the light back toward us. Paul reminds us that we aren’t qualified to sit in judgment over others because we have our own sin that needs to be exposed.
God’s light does something we don’t always like: it shows us who we really are. We can convince ourselves that our hearts are clean simply because we’re familiar with them. But when Christ shines His light into our souls, He reveals the places where we have rebelled, trusted ourselves instead of Him, and chosen our own way.
The good news is that God doesn’t shine His light on our sin to shame us. His kindness and patience are meant to lead us to repentance. We don’t have to point fingers at everyone else. We can humbly admit, “I need Jesus too.”
We have nothing to brag about except the grace of God. Jesus lived the perfect life we could never live, took the punishment we deserved, and offers forgiveness and eternal life to everyone who trusts in Him.

Pray:
Jesus, shine Your light into my heart. Help me see my own sin before I point out the sins of others. Thank You for Your kindness, patience, and grace. Help me live humbly, repent quickly, and point others toward You instead of judging them. Amen.
